The first Dawah Khanqah was started in Mbeweni between Paarl and Wellington in 2008 by a small group of volunteers on the premises of a old ice-cream factory. Masha Allah, over the years it has kept growing at a steady pace albeit midst much diffyculties and opposition.

Since 2008 the Khanqah and its prayer area was expanded, painted and refurbished with the help of volunteers and a new carpet was installed. The front wall was broken down and a new wall was built largely with the help of the growing Somali buisness community.
The Dawah Khanqah in 2012
The Dawah Khanqah has also been privileged to host an anual Mawlid funtion when a complete reading is made of the story of the life of Allah's final messenger Salallahu Alayhi wa ala aalihi wa baarik wa sallam. The mawlid programs also include anaasheed recitals and gatherings of salawaat and dhikr.
The Dawah Khanqah has thus far been sustained purely by the efforts of volunteers may Allah reward them abundantly in both worlds.
